New animal feed released

Ufac-UK has released a new energy supplement for cows which could increase the production of butterfat and milk.

The energy supplements supplier has released its Buta-Cup supplement enabling farmers to improve yields.

Should the product prove to be a success it could increase the demand for animal feed machinery.

Dr Donald Lawson, Ufac’s UK sales and marketing manager, claimed the new feed would also help improve fertility.

"With a continued decline in fertility in the UK dairy herd, this increase in energy level is particularly important," he said.

A continual grass-only diet has high oil and sugar levels combined with low fibre content, both of which lead to reduced butterfat production in cows.

The new supplement could ensure farmers meet milk production levels stipulated in contracts with customers.
